2006 CARBON PASR Woodson Award

 

The Carbon PASR Lauretta Woodson Award was presented during the Jim Thorpe School District Board meeting to Jeffrey James, educator and John McGowan, support staff person on June 12th by Lee and Kathy Getz, Carbon PASR Educational Support Foundation Chairs. Jeffry James, teacher, principal and central office administrator has spent over 34 years in the field of education. His leadership, creativity and tactful administrative skills make him an outstanding candidate for this award. John McGowan, who has been Jim Thorpe school district’s strength coach for the past 17 years, has motivated the students with achieving strength and self-esteem that can be used in all aspects of life. Both Mr. James and Mr. McGowan received a PASR citation, medallion and a PASR lapel pin for their commendable service to the Jim Thorpe School District.

2005 CARBON PASR Woodson Award
 
Nancy Mendsen, center, Chair of the Carbon County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retireees Educational Support Foundation, presents Nadine Harbove, culinary arts instructor for the Carbon County Area Vocational Technical School, and Donna Kost, CCAVTS secretary with PASR's Dr. Lauretta Woodson  Recognition Award during the June meeting of the CCAVTS Joint Operating Committee.

The award, made possible by a donation to PASR from Woodson, an educator from Delaware County, is given annually to one teacher and a support staff member for doing an outstanding job. Harbove and Kost are the first people from Carbon County to receive this award.

 

In addition, Dr. Robert Mauro, administrative director for CCAVTS, was presented with the Carbon County PASR Appreciation Award by Sandra Kokinda, president of the Carbon County PASR, for exemplary leadership in service to the youth of the county and his commitment to education.
