The Community Service Committee conducts member volunteerism surveys in the spring of each year and
reports the findings to the media and our public officials. Why? We are an asset to our communities!!
The value of the school retiree's volunteer service to their community far exceeds the amounts that taxpayers
are contributing to fund retiree benefits. We believe that is an important fact that the general public needs to be made aware
of, particularly when asked to help us maintain the standard of living we earned at retirement. This survey is important in order that we may show the manpower and the number of hours that are volunteered
by our school retirees. Survey results are presented to our Legislature for consideration for a Cost of Living Adjustment.
Carbon County
Chapter's 2005 Community Service Survey returns were from 76 of the PASR members and this represents 46% of Carbon PASR active
members. Their volunteer hours total over 24,737
hours for this year. At a multiplier of $16.54 per
hour, volunteers have saved over $409,149.98
I urge you to complete the survey,
to tally the number of volunteer hours that you have performed this year, and return the form to me. We need everyone to cooperate
in this endeavor to make it a success. If you did not submit your 2005 Community Service Survey, please remember to do so next
year and let your 2006 volunteer hours be counted.
On behalf
of the PASR Community Service Committee, I wish to thank all our members who have participated in our survey and all of you
who serve as volunteers in your communities.
You make
US Proud!
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Phyllis L. Seems
